Reliable labour is very important for home owners and business owners. Be sure that the contractor doing your job can supply good references, is insurred and has WSIB clearance. Inaddition be aware of who you are letting into your house or place of business. This being said keep in mind the most reputable contractors will fall in the higher end of the rate scale. Remember we get what we pay for.

Below is a list of the average labour & material rates (excluding tile):
1) Ceramic floor 12x12 & 13x13 rustic pillowed edge tile set in a straight traditional pattern on wire lath : $5.50 - $6.50/sqft
2) Porcelain floor 12x12 rustic pillowed edge tile set in a straight traditional pattern on wire lath : $6.50 - $7.50/sqft
3) Natural Stone 12x12 floors set in a straight traditional pattern on wire lath : $10.00 - $15.00/sqft
4) Kitchen Backspash - The average 25sqft backsplash installation rate is $10.00/sqft - $15.00 for 4"x4" ceramic or porcelain tile.
Often add $2.00/sqft - $4.00/sqft for tile to be layed on a diagnol or 45 degree angle, brick pattern, french pattern
Diagnol (45 degree angle) , brick pattern and other design patterns varry due do the amount of lengthy labour to be used on water saws cutting each natural stone to accomidate the desired design pattern. Prices for natural stone design are typically very dirrerent between jobs to average out.
Please note that the prices listed above are averages and can varry due to different demands, wants and needs of each consumer. Things such as: the size of each tile, transition mouldings, floor preparation, floor leveling, removal of existing flooring, disposal, ect. will change the price of each of your quotations respectfully. When receiving quotations from your contractor be sure to ask questions and have the contractor explain in detailed writing what needs to be done to properly to install your floor.
